China ‘s original Great Wall Cabernet Sauvignon Revisited

When the 1998 vintage was tasted back in 2000, it was honestly not the most impressive find of the year. In fact, the only interesting thing about it was the wine was made in China. Tasting rather green with some undesirable capsicum notes and a hollow core, it didn’t give a great deal of pleasure. Some 15 years later, spotting almost the same price tag, the wine has seen much improvement. To start, this Cab has shed much of its ugly notes. It is a lot better balanced than before. This Great Wall Cabernet weighs in at 12.5%ABV is, by all counts, drinkable. If it soldiers on along this direction while holding its price at bay, this can be a very successful house pour for restaurants in China.
