If you had the foresight to stash away some cases of 2009/2010 Cru Bourgeois, Right Bank Crus or Medoc Petit Chateaux a few years ago, you ought to feel like a million bucks now. These scandalously underrated Clarets have aged beautifully, now punching far above its weight class.

Fellow wine-nuts are confirming my earlier prognosis that the line that separates them and the noble (read exorbitant) Grand Cru Classes would soon blur to a point that even the great impressionists won’t be able to articulate it on canvass. To be fair, given another 10 years of age, the nobility will probably outrun these artisanal wonders; but for this decade, I don’t know of many miseries that can’t be soothed by a bottle of 2009 Medoc, Pomerol, Graves and St. Emilion.

Prices are no longer as irresistible as they were 3 years back but they are still in the affordable bracket. These are go-to wines without match. With the 3 miserable seasons that followed these two great vintages, prices will surely be less attractive very quickly. Remember what happened to the 2005s? They are drinking beautifully but the some of prices taste awful.

Anyway, with so many wonderful options at your disposal, do remember to drink less, drink better.
